Report time is 6:15 pm for all performers! Everyone else in band is required to attend and should report to the auditorium by 6:50 pm.
The concert starts at 7:00 pm and will feature two percussion ensembles, madrigal brass, beginning band, and two jazz bands! The concert is free and open to the public!
Concert attire for performers is:
Boys: dress pants, dress shirt, tie optional, black dress shoes
Girls: dress pants or skirt and nice top; skirt must be knee-length or longer with black tights
For this concert only, "festive flair" (holiday ties, scarves, etc) is acceptable as long as your attire meets the above guidelines.

IMEA Music Festival Concert!
Congratulations to Kayla Bachar (band-flute), Erin Matthewson (orchestra-oboe), and Justin Miner (choir-tenor) for their acceptance into the IMEA District I Music Ensembles!
The festival concert date is November 17th (Saturday) at West Leyden High School in North Lake, Illinois. The concert begins at 4 pm is open to the public. All are encouraged to come and support our MCHS music participants!

Fall Band Concert
The first annual Fall Band Concert is November 13th in the Performing Arts Center located at Central Campus. The program will begin at 7 pm with performances by the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and the Wind Ensemble.

MCHS Band Concert Dress Code:
Concert attire is black and white dress clothes. All school dress code rules apply! The dress code can be found on page 37 of the Student Handbook.
Appropriate attire is as follows:

Black dress pants
Black or white dress shirt
Black socks & dress shoes

Girls
Black dress pants with nice black or white top
Black skirt with black tights/leggings and nice black or white top

- Black tights/nylons are required if you are wearing a skirt or dress.
- Skirts must be just above the knee or longer - NO shorter! A skirt that only reaches your fingertips is still too short for sitting on a stage in a formal concert setting.
- Dresses and tops may be sleeveless (i.e., only open at the shoulder) – spaghetti strap or strapless tops/dresses are not allowed unless you are wearing a sweater over the dress.

Busses will transport us to the Minooka Elementary School for the start of the parade. The parade will end at MCHS Central Campus. We should be done by 2:40 pm (approx)
Atttire: Black drillmaster shoes, socks, and pants (same as summer outfit) HOWEVER you may wear costumes from the waist up. Try to use as much orange/black as possible!

U of I Results
Another truly memorable experience happened for all members of our band family this past weekend. After a truly remarkable day of preparation (in spite of weather challenges), our Marching Indians took the field with great confidence and presence to dazzle the audience and impress the judges! We received the highest score in our 20 year history of participation at the Illini Marching Band Championships! We earned a solid 4th place in 6A competition. Our colorguard earned a 4th place in the auxillary caption and our drumline continues to dominate with an impressive 1st place caption award! Looking forward to another great week of rehearsals (including Sr. night on Wednesday) and a fantastic day at Mahomet/Seymour on Oct. 20th.

- On Sept 29th (Saturday) is our next field show competition at Geneseo HS in Geneseo, IL. Report time is 12:00 pm for rehearsal. Later in the day our band will be performing at 7:24 pm. More details for the day's itinerary will be posted within the next couple of days.
- On Sept. 30th (Sunday) is the Annual Grundy County Corn Festival Parade in Morris, IL. The parade starts at 2:00 pm and our band is Unit #29. Report time will be 12:15 pm at the MCHS band room.
- On Oct. 1st (Monday) is the Annual Band Night Show at the MCHS Athletic Field Stadium. The show starts at 7:00 pm. Report time will be 6:00 pm.

Football Game Uniform Information!
Due to threatening weather this evening (Sept 7th), students should arrive at 6:15 pm wearing jeans with orange and black on top (band t-shirt, polo, hoodie, or any Minooka/orange and black clothing is okay). Gym shoes are also fine. HOWEVER, also have with you your Drillmaster shoes and shorts or leggings to wear under your band uniform in case we are able to wear full uniform after all. This gives us the option of wearing full uniform or not depending on what the weather is doing. Please email Mr. Anderson or Ms. Wych with any questions!

Channahon Parade Info!
ALL BAND STUDENTS - Call time for the Channahon 3 Rivers Parade this Sunday, August 12th is 10:45 am. Meet at the band room to bus to the parade starting point.
Attire for the parade is orange band polos, black pants (NOT skinny jeans), black socks, and black Drillmasters.
Our band is entry #22 in the parade.
At the conclusion of the parade, parents (only) may sign-out their son/daughter without activities release form or pre-approval. This is a recent change of policy from last week's parade. Parents may pick up students at the corner of Tryon Street and Jessup Street in Channahon immediately after the band finishes the parade route.
Anybody else wishing to sign-out a student MUST have submitted an activities release form signed by their parent and been pre-approved in advance. All other students will ride the bus back to MCHS.

Band camp success!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this year's band camp a success, both in Charleston and behind the scenes. We could not have done it without our many supportive parents and school administrators!
We are so proud of the hard work, focus, good behavior, and enthusiasm of our students while down at camp! We accomplished a great deal and are so excited to move forward with our season. It's going to be a great year!

There will be a Branson trip parent meeting in the Central Campus auditorium on Tuesday, March 27th at 7:00 pm. Students are encouraged to be at this meeting.

Congratulations!
Congratulations to Kayla Bachar, who was selected for the Illinois Music Educator's Association All-State Band! The audition that earned Kayla a spot in the IMEA District 1 Band last November also qualified her for this great honor and opportunity.
Beginning on Thursday Kayla will spend two and half days rehearsing with top high school musicians from around the state in Peoria. The event will conclude with an All-State Band, Orchestra, and Choir concert at Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, January 28th.

Incoming Freshman Night at South Campus!
On January 11th (Wed) there will be a short meeting at 6:00 pm in the teacher's dining area (just off the main cafeteria) for all incoming freshmen considering band for the 2012-2013 school year. Information will be presented about the MCHS band program for next year! Mr. Anderson and Ms. Wych will be available to answer questions after the short presentation.
